Aldo Bakker
Aldo Bakker, son of the Dutch jeweler and industrial designer Gijs Bakker, was born in Amersfoort in 1971. His self-taught training led him to study on some of the most extravagant artists on the contemporary scene, from the composer Luigi Nono and the painter Giorgio Morandi, to the writer John Maxwell Coetzee and the architect Carlo Scarpa, whose interest in the language of their mediums he greatly admires. His works are usually unique pieces or part of small collections: each one of his creations is not conceived as an inanimate object but as an individual character, able to make us part of their journey and to make us understand who they really are.
