Founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, Artek was established with the aim of selling furniture and promoting a modern culture of living through exhibitions and other educational means. The company's name comes from the union of the words "art" and "technology," concepts fundamental to the modernist movement of the 1920s that saw the linking of these two spheres as the innovation of modern design. Its collection consists of furniture, lighting and accessories designed by Finnish and international masters.
Description-
Stool 60 is the iconic stool designed by Alvar Aalto in 1933 for Artek. A revolutionary project based on the curvature of wood, which led to the creation of the recognizable L-shaped leg that characterizes it. Its geometry is essential and functional: the birch structure, made up of curved legs mounted on the round seat, makes it unique and stackable at the same time. Available in different finishes.
