Designed by Hannes Peer for SEM, Alea is part of the Paesaggio collection. It was born from an idea of deconstructing the basic elements that make up the chair: this division into separate elements means that at first sight it is not clear how the elements are actually held together. The cornerstone of Hannes Peer's design philosophy lies in transforming the perception of an object from everyday use, making it more captivating but at the same time comfortable. The Alea chair finds its conceptual roots in Pierre Cardin's search for 'purity' in the 1970s and is deeply inspired by the craftsmanship that lays the foundations of Pierre Chapo's carpentry work. The large curved backrest offers ample back support and can also be used to rest your arms. It offers exceptional seating comfort thanks to its padded seat and its iconic swing back.
