Alvino Bagni

Alvino Bagni was an Italian ceramist. Born in a hamlet of Lastra a Signa in 1919, as a boy he began working in the Arnaldo Pugi ceramic manufacturing workshop. After the end of the war, Pugi helped him open his own business. The history of his workshop begins with the creation of 3500 saucers with the inscription "I like Ike" for Dwight D. Eisenhower's electoral campaign in 1952. In the 1980s Ceramica Bagni began to deal with the modernization of the market and in 1990 Alvino was forced to close the company. It reopened in 1993 under the name of Nuove Forme, from which he retired in 2001 due to health problems. He passed away in 2009, at the age of 90.
