Description-

Roattino, designed in 1931 by Eileen Gray, is a floor lamp, characterized by its S-curved shape, reminiscent of a snake charmer. Ironic, unconventional, unique, it is a lamp that perfectly embodies Eileen Gray's design. The asymmetrical fabric lampshade shields the light making Roattino a perfect reading lamp. Eileen Gray

Eileen Gray was an Irish designer and architect and a pioneer of the Modern Movement in architecture. Born in Enniscorthy in 1878, she studied drawing and painting in London until she discovered her passion for lacquered furniture in a store in the Soho district, which led her in 1907 to move to Paris to study with Seizo Sugawara, a Japanese master of the technique of lacquering wood. Prompted by fellow architect Jean Badovici and Le Corbusier, Eileen began studying architecture in 1924: the result was her most iconic work, Villa E-1027 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the French Riviera.
