Serge Mouille, born in Paris in 1922, was a French industrialist, silversmith, and teacher. Best known as a modern lighting designer, his skillful mastery of metalwork is evident in all his creations. In 1941, he opened his workshop, focusing initially on designing handrails, wall sconces and chandeliers. In 1950, he began to focus on more complex work, such as floor and wall lamps. Minimalist design is a hallmark of his style and his counter response to the design excesses of the time.
