Umberto Riva

Umberto Riva was an Italian designer and architect. Born in Milan in 1928, he studied architecture in Venice, where he was a pupil of Carlo Scarpa, graduating in 1959. The following year he began working as an architect in Milan, where he designed his first summer houses for holidays, showing particular attention to spaces interiors, in relation to their context and the surrounding urban landscape, and the rejection of aestheticisms. During the course of his career he taught at various institutes in Palermo, Venice and Milan. He died in Palermo in 2021.
