Walter After

Walter Usai is a Sardinian ceramist from Assemini. His profession is familiar: it began with his great-great-grandfather Efisio Usai, who in 1850 undertook the business of "Strexiaiu", i.e. "crockery". The Assemini clay, rich in iron and other minerals, is extremely beautiful but fragile when fired: this is why the potters of the area are considered real masters. Walter began working in his own laboratory in 2002, after growing up as a child in contact with his father's. Since then he has been constantly looking for new techniques and modern reinterpretations to apply to this ancient craft, to adapt it to the needs of today, which has led him to collaborate over the years with many different brands and designers.
