Carlo Mollino, born in Turin in 1905, was an Italian architect, designer and photographer. He trained at the Royal School of Architecture of the Albertina Academy in Turin, where he graduated in 1931. In the 1940s he began his career as an interior designer. His furniture, often produced as one-of-a-kind pieces or in limited series, was the result of the fusion of artisan techniques with modern materials and technologies: his technique of "cold" bending of plywood, which expressed his passion for nature and in particular the mountains, made him famous during the 1950s.
