Designed by Jean Prouvé in 1934, the Standard chair illustrates the engineering aptitude of its creator. The rear legs are the elements that support the upper part of the person: for this reason Prouvé chooses to design voluminous rear legs with hollow metal sections and to use light tubes for the front legs. The result is a seat that has become a design icon, comfortable and suitable for any context. In the autumn of 2022, Vitra's Standard updates the palette to include some original Prouvé colors: Gris Vermeer, Bleu Dynastie, Blé Vert, Bleu Marcoule are added to the already present finishes.
