Description-

Modules with unusual shapes give life to original seating configurations where aggregation and variability become the protagonists. Additional System is a project by Joe Colombo from 1967, re-proposed today by Tacchini respecting the original spirit: a modular system with timeless charm, still futuristic 50 years later. Cushions of six different sizes, inspired by the ergonomic studies of the 1960s, come together in dynamic and flexible combinations, varying the number of elements and the way in which they are positioned. Additional System is available in armchair, pouf and daybed versions and in other finishes.

Brand

Tacchini

Tacchini is an Italian company created in 1967 by Antonio Tacchini. All products are made in the Brianza area between Milan and Como with a strong tradition of manufacturing and craftsmanship. This allows the company direct control of their quality, minimizing pollution and energy consumption from their transportation. Tacchini has always collaborated with the great masters of design such as Achille Castiglioni and Gianfranco Frattini and still continues on a path of reissues that challenge and teach the contemporary.

Designer

Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo, pseudonym of Cesare Colombo, was an Italian designer and architect. Born in Milan in 1930, he founded the Nuclear Movement together with Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo, and later joined the International Movement for an Imaginist Bauhaus and the Concrete Art Movement. When his father died in 1959, Colombo opened an architectural studio with his brother Gianni, with whom he designed the Acrilica lamp (1962), which won an award at the 1964 Triennale. He died prematurely at the age of 41, and to this day his studio, carried on by his historical collaborator Ignazia Favata, houses the designer's archive.
