Cora is another name for the goddess Persephone, kidnapped by Hades and taken to the underworld. Before releasing her, Hades tricked her into eating a pomegranate seed, the food of the dead, which forced her to return every year. The lustrous finish and warm illumination in Karl Zahn's series evoke Cora's annual return, which brought earthly light and warmth to the underworld.
Roll & Hill

Roll & Hill collaborates with some of the best independent designers in the world, creating unique and timeless collections of lamps. Founded in 2010 by designer Jason Miller, the brand was born from the desire to work with the best creatives, offering an exclusive and small-scale production, more like a boutique studio than a large company. Roll & Hill's production is commissioned and personalized according to the needs of each customer. Each piece is hand-assembled at their headquarters in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Karl Zahn
Born and raised in rural Vermont, Karl Zahn's work with wood and natural materials developed out of his time spent playing in forests and wood shops. His designs express a pared-down simplicity and stark aesthetic that blends modernist hard lines with traditional furniture craft. After earning a degree in product design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003, Karl travelled to San Francisco, where he immersed himself in the creative and complicated metalworking culture that thrives there. In 2007, he moved to New York to begin working on his own. He lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
